The “C” Word – Cancer

I am a cancer survivor. I’ve had bone cancer twice: in ’99 and 2002. After surgeries to remove bone, radiation & physical therapy; I am doing well. My doctor told me that I was his “first big save.” I am one of many in my family that have had cancer. My father, his sisters and his late younger brother all have had cancer. I was the oldest cousin and the first to have it. Then, the second oldest, Kari, was diagnosed with renal cancer. Next, the third oldest, Ian, was diagnosed with lung cancer. He died a year later. It is a struggle surviving and fighting cancer. Our family, with our Norwegian/Swedish background, fights valiantly. It is not easy.
